Cosy little spot that genuinely lives up to the hype. The coffee is excellent, the staff are warm and friendly and the food has that subtle, modest excellence that fresh, authentic, simple dishes excel from. One of the few places that's got me truly excited to try every menu item!
Quaint little cafe tucked away from the hustle and bustle. The matches lattes are delicious and the dishes are a comfort food for those reminiscing their last trip to Japan. Weekends can be very busy so I recommend visiting on a quieter weekday if you can.
Chooka’s in Brunswick is such a hidden gem! This cosy little Japanese café has a delightful cat theme and a warm, whimsical vibe that feels like it came straight out of a Studio Ghibli film. We tried the Sakura Omusubi and Tuna Omusubi — both were simple, fresh, and incredibly comforting. The space is full of charm and character, with lovely staff and a peaceful atmosphere. A perfect spot for a quiet bite and a little escape from the city.

quickly becoming one of my fave little spots. i ve only been twice so far but it never disappoints. i got the shake miso and mentai mayo onigiri and both were incredible. the filling is generous and seriously worth every cent. also tried the black sesame latte and it was sooo good. and can we talk about the drink spoon? freakin adorable. honestly, such a cozy vibe with great food and cute little details. i already know i'll be back again (and again)
I came here with a bunch of my friends and we weren’t aware of how small the place actually was. Thankfully, everyone was very nice and helpful, and even helped us arrange a table so we could all fit together. Our absolute favourites were the onigiri and curry rice, we didn’t know such simple dishes could taste that good! We also ordered some matcha and hojicha lattes but they were just ok, a bit too watery for our liking. Definitely would be coming back!!
the food, coffee, service and atmosphere here is amazing. The courtyard is calm and inviting and was a great place to sit and enjoy the morning sun. I loved the cute cat spoons too!! Dining here made me feel like I was back in Japan.
